HOBOKEN – Three separate arrests were made on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, for shoplifting attempts at Rite Aid and Shop Rite, officials said.

David Santiago, 40, of Jersey City, was arrested for shoplifting and released on summons, officials said. At around 12:30 p.m. police were dispatched to Shop Rite, located at 900 Madison St. in Hoboken, on report of a shoplifter. A loss prevention officer saw Santiago placing several items into his sweatshirt pocket and later found 10 Gillette deodorants on him, totaling $51.89, officials said. He was placed under arrest by Officer Munoz.

Brendan Gunn, 27, of Maspeth, NY, was arrested for shoplifting, simple assault, aggravated assault and obstruction, officials said. At around 2:30 p.m. police were dispatched to Rite Aid, located at 1300 Willow Ave. in Hoboken, on report of a shoplifter. A loss prevention officer saw Gunn placing several items into his jacket, mostly edibles. While waiting for police, Gunn allegedly pushed the security officer to the ground, officials said. No injuries were sustained. When Officers Miller and Globke arrived, Gunn became “combative, irate and aggressive,” officials said. He assaulted Officer Globke and refused to get finger printed. He was later released on summons.

Edgar Pizzaro, 27, of North Bergen, was arrested for shoplifting and police discovered he was responsible for several burglaries and thefts that occurred in Hoboken last month. At around 4:00 p.m. police were dispatched to Shop Rite, located at 900 Madison St. in Hoboken, on report of a shoplifter. Officer Cruzado responded and placed Pizzaro under arrest after it was determined that he had attempted to steal 2 bottles of Absolut Vodka by putting them in his bag, officials said.
