Shots fired Sunday on Crescent Ave. in Jersey City, female allegedly suffered gunshot wound to the thigh

JERSEY CITY – A 21-year-old female was shot in the thigh while walking on Crescent Ave. early Sunday, according to officials.

At around 12:48 a.m. on March 15th, Officers Medina and Valladares responded to an apartment on Crescent Avenue on report of a victim with a gun shot wound. They met with the 21-year-old female who was laying on a bed inside the apartment, bleeding from her left thigh and complaining of pain from an apparent gunshot, according to the police report.

The victim told police that she left her apartment on Crescent Avenue and was walking east on Harrison Ave. and approaching Communipaw Ave. with her younger sister at around 12:45 a.m. She stated that as they walked past the parking lot of the Crown Fried Chicken she heard three gunshots. When she realized she had been shot, she returned to her home on Crescent Ave and called 911. EMS responded and she was transported to Jersey City Medical Center.

A survey of the supposed area of gunfire turned up no evidence of gunshots. Suspect is unknown at this time.
