Six People face DWI Charges in WNY this past week

With the holidays in full swing, police are cracking down on intoxicated drivers.  In West New York police arrested six people who were allegedly driving under the influence between December 24 and December 28.

On December 24, 39-year-old Roberto J. Chamorro was taken into custody at 6500 Broadway in West New York.  The Jersey City resident was charged with driving while under the influence, reckless driving and not having a license.

Two people were arrested on December 26.  Weehawken resident Francisco J. Aguilar was pulled over on Boulevard East.  The 55-year-old is facing careless driving and multiple driving while under the influence charges.  Police also arrested 35-year-old Fort Lee resident Jose E. Sanchez-Hernandez on Kennedy Boulevard in North Bergen.  He is facing a host of charges, including driving while under the influence in a school zone, careless driving and driving without a license.

Union City resident Helmer J. Melgar was pulled over on December 27 at Park Avenue in West New York.  The 27-year-old has been charged with driving while intoxicated and urinating in public. 

On December 28, police arrested 51-year-old Juan A. Almanzar at 51st Street in West New York.  The Englewood resident is charged with careless driving, driving while under the influence and driving while under the influence in a school zone.  The same day Cheysa D. Carcamo was pulled over on Bergenline Avenue in West New York.  The 51-year-old Lodi resident is charged with careless driving, driving while under the influence and driving while under the influence in a school zone.

  1. These people shud be expressing their gratitude to the NBPD!!!…and be grateful to them for this serious warning to shape up their on-road behavior!!! before they cud wind up like Rogelio Chavix-Tacen!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I am wondering why all the people arrested are from Spanish origin. Is it because of profiling by the police / or because hispanics are the only alcohol drinkers…? I bet all the cops were whites..
