The 15th seeded Peacocks….Hudson County’s tiny university on Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City has made history. The school is the first number 15 seed in men’s college basketball history to advance to the Elite 8. Let me write that down again…
ST. PETER’S UNIVERSITY HAS BECOME THE FIRST MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL TEAM IN THE HISTORY OF THE NCAA TOURNAMENT WITH A SEEDING OF 15, TO ADVANCE TO THE ELITE 8!!! Un-freaking-believable!!!
The Peacocks defeated 3rd seeded Purdue on Friday night by a score of 67-64. They will face the winner of night’s 4th seeded UCLA and 8th seeded North Carolina, two giants in men’s college basketball. UCLA currently leads that game at halftime, 31-28 in Philadelphia.
With everything all of us have experienced the past two years, this miracle run could not have come at a better time. Whether you are a college basketball fan or not; whether you are a sports fan or not; you most certainly are a fan of these kids and Coach Shaheen Holloway.
