State of the Art Library Coming to Union City

A brand new, state of the art library will replace Union City’s existing library at 43rd Street and New York Avenue.  The library is expected to open in 2026.

The library will be paid for using grant funding, approximately 73-percent of the cost, and existing surplus on the city’s books.  There will be no cost incurred by taxpayers.

The new library, which will be fully ADA compliant, will have many meeting rooms for community use, a rooftop space where patrons can read or use their laptops, and a computer lab on the third floor.

it will have state of the art technology throughout the building, as well as bathrooms on each floor.

Construction on the new library is expected to begin in 2025.
