Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the City of Bayonne will present the Summer Sounds by the Bay concerts Wednesdays, from July 6 through August 24, at 7:00 p.m., weather permitting. The first concert in July, featuring the Marty Hoff Big Band, will take place on Wednesday, July 6, weather permitting, as part of our American Independence celebration. The concerts will be held at the amphitheater on the lower level of DiDomenico-16th Street Park, which is located between Avenue A and Newark Bay.
Wednesday, July 6, 7:00 p.m.: The Marty Hoff Big Band
This close association, the Marty Hoff Big Band, which is co-led by Ed Beales of Bayonne, is a gathering of the musicians once known as the Bayonne Community Jazz Band. Marty was born into the realm of swing bands. Marty has had great success in maintaining an on-call, active list of supporting musicians who demonstrate with purpose a love affair with this truly American art form, the big band. Come down to the 16th Street Park as the City and the Marty Hoff Big Band celebrate Independence Day.
Wednesday, July 13, 7:00 p.m.: Sunset Soundz
Sunset Soundz will have you ready to sing and dance. Songs from the ‘50’s, ‘60’s, ‘70’s, and today’s modern music. They cover such songs as “In the Still of the Night,” “Suave Mente,” and “Cake by the Ocean.” The park will be rocking!
Wednesday, July 20, 7:00 p.m.: The Mahoney Brothers
The show creates an evening of unforgettable nostalgic entertainment, recreating the sights and sounds of two of the greatest musical legends. It’s Elvis meets the Beatles in “the Concert That Never Was.”
Wednesday, July 27, 7:00 p.m.: The 1910 Fruitgum Company
The 1910 Fruitgum Company is an American bubblegum pop band of the 1960’s. The group’s Billboard Hot 100 hits included “Simon Says,” “May I Take A Giant Step,” “1,2,3, Red Light,” “Goody Goody Gumdrops,” “Special Delivery,” and “The Train.”
Wednesday, August 3, 7:00 p.m.: Large Flowerheads
Take a trip back to the 1960’s with the Large Flowerheads. Their repertoire includes numbers from The Box Tops, Buckinghams, Beatles, Neil Diamond, Strawberry Alarm Clock, The Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, Tommy James and The Shondells, Cream, Bob Dylan, Jefferson Airplane, The Human Beinz, and The Hollies.
Wednesday, August 10, 7:00 p.m.: Gerard Esposito & His Trio
This singer/stylist will give you a centennial celebration of the music of the Chairman of the Board, Frank Sinatra. Be entertained by the tribute to this iconic figure. Enjoy songs from “Summer Wind” to “Fly Me to the Moon” and many more. Vegas comes to Bayonne!
Wednesday, August 17, 7:00 p.m.: Beginnings
Beginnings provides the ultimate tribute to the group Chicago. The horn section will electrify the audience and the vocals will make you feel like you are at an authentic Chicago concert as they play all the hits of that Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame group.
Wednesday, August 24, 7:00 p.m.: The Nerds
It’s pure over-the-top entertainment when The Nerds come to Bayonne, bringing the sand and boardwalk atmosphere of the Jersey Shore to Newark Bay. Playing the hits of classic rock and roll, The Nerds deliver and exciting, edgy, and totally fun show. Break your glasses, fix them with a band aid, and come out to enjoy New Jersey’s zaniest bunch of cover rock stars – The Nerds!
The Summer Sounds by the Bay concerts are sponsored by BCB Community Bank, Bayonne Medical Center/Carepoint, Inserra Shop-Rite, Judicke’s Bakery, Bayonne Yellow Cab, and Ken’s Marine. The City of Bayonne thanks all of this year’s sponsors, and would welcome additional sponsors for the concert series and other future events.
Crowd sizes will vary from one concert to another. At each performance, the City of Bayonne will provide a number of chairs free of charge, which may or may not offer enough seating for the entire audience. The City of Bayonne encourages people who want guaranteed seating to bring their own lawn chairs.
Vendors will be present on the lower level of DiDomenico-16th Street Park on concert nights. They will offer various food items and refreshments for sale to the public.

In the event of rained-out concerts, the City of Bayonne would make every effort to reschedule the musical acts for later dates. Any rescheduled concerts would be announced as soon as circumstances might permit.
