Teen Charged in Bayonne Apartment Shooting Death

BAYONNE, NJ – A 17-year-old male from Jersey City has been arrested and charged with manslaughter following the death of John Dominguez, also 17, inside a Bayonne apartment. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, after the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined Dominguez died from a gunshot wound to the torso.

The incident occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, at an apartment located at 124 West Third Street in Bayonne. Emergency services responded to reports of an unresponsive male, later identified as Dominguez. Despite being rushed to Bayonne Medical Center, Dominguez was pronounced dead just after 3 p.m.

The juvenile suspect, whose identity remains confidential due to his age, faces charges of manslaughter, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. These charges stem from the incident that took place inside the apartment.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has indicated that juvenile matters are confidential, and no further details regarding the case will be released at this time. The juvenile is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
