On Saturday, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 18-year old, Fairview resident Brayan Escobar on charges of distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

A press release from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office states, “On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit identified BRAYAN ESCOBAR during the course of an Internet child sexual abuse material investigation. The investigation revealed that ESCOBAR used the Internet to view, download, possess, and distribute items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children.”

Escobar was arrested on Wednesday and charged with second-degree distribution of child pornography and third-degree possession of child pornography.  He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.

Prosecutor Musella says that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.  Musella credited the Fairview Police Department for its assistance, as well as the Waldwick, Washington Township, and Woodcliff Lake Police Departments, which all participate in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
