Union City youngsters displayed their talents on Saturday in Washington Park, as youth baseball tryouts were held, as the program looked to fill out their rosters for T-Ball, Minors, Majors and Babe Ruth.
Youth baseball is on the rise again in Union City, as upwards of 300 kids are expected to play this season.  The season starts on April 26th with a parade of teams heading to Washington Park, where the first games will be played.  The Babe Ruth division will play its games at Union City High School.
Saturday’s tryouts allowed organizers to determine the skill levels and dedication of the players, but no child showing commitment is turned away.  Boys, girls and youngsters with disabilities were all welcomed to tryout.
If a child was unable to attend Saturday’s event, they can still call (201) 955-8394 to schedule a private workout, or stop by a practice later in the spring.
Registration for T-Ball was $25, while the other three levels of competition cost $40.
