The Town of West New York launches new updated Website and Social Media Platforms

Mayor Felix E. Roque, M.D. and the Board of Commissioners are proud to announce the launch of the Town of West New York’s newly redesigned website and the introduction of government Social Media Platforms. Websites and Social Media have become one of the most important tools for citizens to obtain information about their municipalities.

This initiative was undertaken by the Mayor and Commissioners in order to foster a more transparent government, have readily available for resident’s basic information about their Town, and to keep residents informed in a timely manner about important events.

The newly designed, user-friendly website is intended to conform to the New Jersey Best Practices Checklist which all municipalities are encouraged to follow by basing portions of their State Aid formula on compliance. On the website, residents can download important forms, find out about events on the community calendar, see the schedule of public meetings along with minutes and agendas, review pending, approved and codified ordinances, and examine the last three years budgets. There is also a photo gallery page which has albums of events that have occurred in town.

The Social Media platforms are a government page on Facebook and a Twitter account. These are utilized so that residents can receive information in a manner that has now become a popular means of communication.

The administration suggests that residents visit the website, located at www.westnewyorknj.org, as often as possible as photos, events, and alerts are posted frequently. In addition, they would like to have residents “Socialize with West New York” by doing a “Like” on the Town Facebook page and “follow@TownofWNY” Twitter so announcements regarding events and important information can be delivered in a social media format. Both can be accomplished by visiting the new website where a special sign up announcement appears and the social media feeds are displayed on the home page.

West New York’s website and Social Media platforms were built by AlphaDog Solutions (ADS), a public sector web design and management company, who is also responsible for updating and maintaining the content provided by the Town. AlphaDog manages websites for 12 other municipalities along with various other government entities.
