According to reports, officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of multiple gunshots. Witnesses at the scene reported seeing three individuals engaging in a gunfight in the vicinity of East 21st Street, East 22nd Street, and Avenue E. In retaliation, 18-year-old Jancarlos Rivera fired multiple rounds at Juvenile 2, causing the aforementioned property damage.

On August 22, Rivera was apprehended near East 25th Street. The firearm he used in the shooting remains missing. The following day, Juvenile 2 was taken into custody from his residence. Detectives recovered two handguns from the location, one of which was confirmed stolen from Norfolk, VA. Additionally, Juvenile 2 was identified as the suspect in a motor vehicle theft that occurred earlier in the month. He later turned himself in for this crime on August 29.
