Bayonne police are searching for several suspects in connection with three bank robberies that have taken place in the city in less than two months.
It all began on November 28 when a man hit the TD Bank at 1066 Broadway, handing the teller a threatening note and demanding money.
Bayonne Police Captain Robert Geisler says the man made off with $5,240 in cash. He says the suspect did not display a gun and no one was hurt.
The man is described as five-feet-ten-inches tall and thin. He was wearing a Santa hat, dark sunglasses, a dark coat and dark pants. The suspect was captured on the bank’s video surveillance system.
The FBI is working on the case.
Another robbery took place on December 5 at the Chase Bank at 650 Broadway, with a man handing the bank teller a note demanding money.
The most recent incident occurred on Christmas Eve when Geisler says a man tried to rob the Garden State Community Bank at 949 Broadway. In this incident, Geisler says the suspect did show the teller a gun but got away without any money.
So far no arrests have been made. Geisler says police do not believe the robberies are related.
