On 11/21/2019 at 0733 hours, officers responded to the 700 block of JFK Blvd. on a report of a stolen motor vehicle. According to the 44 year old female victim, sometime between 0400 hours and 0730 hours, her 2017 GMC Terrain had been stolen from the area. A description of the vehicle was relayed to all available units and a search for the vehicle ensued. At approximately 0851 hours, police dispatch notified all units that an On-Star alert was being received by the victim, advising her that the vehicle is parked in the area of 1241 JFK Blvd.
Officers toured the area and were able to locate the vehicle parked along a fence at the rear of 1225 JFK Blvd. Upon approaching the vehicle, they observed both the front driver and passenger door opened and two males exiting the vehicle. The two males were later identified as Jeremiah Ross (18) and Juan Hernandez (19). As the officers attempted to engage the males, both fled and a foot pursuit ensued after numerous commands to stop running were given to both males.
A description of both actors was given and multiple units responded to the scene to establish a perimeter. Both actors were apprehended a short while later in the area and a key to the stolen GMC was recovered from Hernandez’s pocket. During the on-scene investigation, it was learned that a third individual, David Adbelnour (19), was also involved in the theft.
While officers cleared the scene, they observed Adbelnour walking in front of 1225 JFK Blvd. Abdelnour was stopped for further investigation and with the help of K-9 units from the HCSO, Adbelnour was positively identified as being inside of the vehicle after the K-9 units picked up on his scent inside of the vehicle.
They were charged with the following:
Receiving Stolen Property
Resisting Arrest by Flight (Ross and Hernandez)
The three young men were taken to the Hudson County jail.
