Town of Secaucus will be cracking down on drunk drivers until January 1st 2018

SECAUCUS , NJ – Law enforcement officers from the Secaucus Police Department will be cracking down on drunk drivers as part of the 201 7 Year End Holiday “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.

Begin ning December 8 , 201 7 and running through January 1 , 2018 , local and state law enforcement officers will conduct sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols, looking for motorists who may be driving while intoxicated.
“ Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” is a national campaign designed to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving through high – visibility enforcement and public education tools, including posters, banners and display signs. Launched across the United States in 1999, the program works to combat drunk driving during some of the busiest travel times of the year, including the Year End Holiday period.
For the five year period 2011 – 2015 , the state experienced approximately 39,485 alcohol involved crashes, resulting in 778 fatalities. Thi s project will provide funding to implement a statewide impaired driving enforcement campaign as part of the 2017 Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Year End Holiday Crackdown. The objective is to
