Traffic Alert: Lane closings planned at the George Washington Bridge, Goethals Bridge, Lincoln Tunnel, Bayonne Bridge and Holland Tunnel

Lanes will be closed this weekend and/or next week at the George Washington Bridge, Lincoln Tunnel, Goethals Bridge, Bayonne Bridge and Holland Tunnel for ongoing construction and repair projects.

 George Washington Bridge: 

  • From 10 p.m. Friday, November 15, through 10 a.m. Saturday, November 16, and from 10 p.m. Saturday, November 16, until 10 a.m. Sunday, November 17, the bus pickup and drop-off areas at the bridge’s eastbound bus slip will be closed. These closings are due to construction work being performed on the Center and Lemoine Avenue bridges.  Both Lemoine Avenue staircases that lead to the eastbound bus slip will be closed. The bus stop will be moved to the east sidewalk on Center Avenue (on the bridge) just north of Bruce Reynolds Boulevard. All passengers should board and disembark buses and jitneys in this area.
  • Due to construction on a new bicycle path and pedestrian walkway for the bridge, the Long Path entrance to the Palisades Interstate Park will be closed beginning Monday, November 18, and will last approximately two years. For access to the park, pedestrians should cross Hudson Terrace at Bruce Reynolds Boulevard and travel north to the park entrance at Carpenter’s Trail near Fletcher Avenue. Cyclists can continue north on Hudson Terrace to the park entrance at Carpenter’s Trail.
  • The bridge’s eastbound lower level and the eastbound Trans-Manhattan Expressway will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, November 15, through 10 a.m. Saturday, November 16, and from 10 p.m. Saturday, November 16, through 10 a.m. Sunday, November 17.
  • The bridge’s lower-level westbound side will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, November 15, through 10 a.m. Saturday, November 16.
  • Three of four lanes on the bridge’s upper-level westbound side will be closed, along with the 179th Street ramp, from 10 p.m. Saturday, November 16, through 10 a.m. Sunday, November 17.
  • Two lanes on the westbound Trans-Manhattan Expressway will be closed from 10 p.m. Saturday, November 16, through 10 a.m. Sunday, November 17.

Holland Tunnel:

  • One westbound lane in the tunnel will be closed during overnight hours from Sunday, November 17, through Thursday, November 21, from 11:59 p.m. each night through 5:30 a.m. the following morning.  These closures are needed for ongoing tunnel repairs.
  • One eastbound lane in the tunnel will be closed during overnight hours from Sunday, November 17, through Thursday, November 21, from 11 p.m. each night through 5 a.m. the following morning.  These closures are needed for ongoing tunnel repairs.

Lincoln Tunnel:

  • The tunnel’s South Tube (into New York) will be closed from 11:59 p.m. Friday, November 15, through 9 a.m. Saturday, November 16, for roadway work. Traffic will be diverted to the Center Tube.
  • The tunnel’s South Tube (into New York) will be closed from 11:59 p.m. Saturday, November 16, through 9 a.m. Sunday, November 17, for roadway work. Traffic will be diverted to the Center Tube.

Bayonne Bridge:

  • One of two southbound lanes (into Staten Island) will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 21.

Goethals Bridge:

  • Two of three lanes on the bridge’s eastbound side will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, November 15, through 5 a.m. Saturday, November 16.
  • Two of three lanes on the bridge’s eastbound side will be closed from 11:59 p.m. Saturday, November 16, through 8 a.m. Sunday, November 17.
  • Two of three lanes on the bridge’s eastbound side will be closed Monday through Thursday, November 18-21, from 11 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. the following mornings.
  • One of three lanes on the bridge’s eastbound side will be closed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 21.

PATH: 

  • PATH’s World Trade Center station will be closed this weekend, starting Saturday, November 16, at 12:01 a.m. until 5 a.m. Monday, November 18, for regularly scheduled tunnel repair work. Service will terminate at Exchange Place, where ferry service will be available from 7 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. from the nearby Harborside Ferry Landing in Jersey City. Ferry service will also be available from the Brookfield Terminal in Lower Manhattan.
