Two Brooklyn Men Arrested for Burglary in Secaucus Restaurant Depot Parking Lot

Secaucus, NJ.- Two men from Brooklyn, Travis Murphy, 35, and Jed McDougal, 46, were arrested in Secaucus after allegedly burglarizing a vehicle in the parking lot of Restaurant Depot on Secaucus Road. The arrest came after Secaucus Police responded to a report of two men breaking into a parked Dodge Ram pickup truck around 3:58 p.m. Witnesses claimed the suspects used a screwdriver to force entry into the truck, stealing cash and personal items.

Upon arrival, Police Officer Jaden Gonzalez spotted Murphy and McDougal leaving the parking lot in a vehicle that matched the witnesses’ description. After stopping them, a search of the vehicle revealed a screwdriver and the stolen items. Both men were identified by a witness as the burglars.

Chief Dennis Miller praised the quick response of his officers, saying, “These arrests serve as another example that the Secaucus Police Department will respond immediately to reports of criminal activity and apprehend criminals who enter Secaucus and prey on our residents and visitors.”

Charges and Court Appearance
Murphy and McDougal were charged with Burglary, Theft, and Conspiracy to Commit Burglary & Theft. Additionally, Murphy was charged with Hindering his own Apprehension after providing false information about his identity at the time of the arrest. Both suspects were released pending their court appearances, as per Criminal Justice Reform.

The charges are currently accusations, and both men are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. The Secaucus Police Department’s quick response is being credited for securing the arrests.
