Two Jersey City men arrested for stabbing two others in Hoboken

On Sunday December 4th, 2016, officers from the Hoboken Police Department responded to 38 Jackson street on a report of a stabbing, where a “pop-up” party was taking place. “Pop-up” parties usually take place via word of mouth and social media and are often held in vacant warehouses or buildings.

The officers arrived and were guided to the area where the victims were being treated. One of the victims had sustained a puncture and slash wounds to his shoulder, stomach and wrist area while the other victim sustained a deep laceration to his left arm, none of which appeared to be life threatening.

Witnesses stated a group was escorted out of the party for misbehaving when a fight broke out between them. One of the males, produced a knife and began to lunge and stab the victims throughout the body. After several minutes, the defendants fled the scene. The victims were treated at Jersey City Medical Center.

Police were given a description of the defendants and a short distance later, one of the defendants, later identified as Joaquin Davis (20) of Jersey City, was apprehended and positively identified as one of the males involved. After resisting his arrest, he was eventually subdued.

Yolmin Brito (22) of Jersey City as well was later identified as the other male involved in the stabbing.  Hoboken Police with the help of Jersey City Police were able to locate the defendant at his residence in Jersey City where he was placed under arrest.

  • Joaquin Davis was charged with 2 Counts of Aggravated Assault, 1x Possession of a Weapon, 1x Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose and Resisting Arrest

He was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility on $27,000 with 10% option

  • Yolmin Brito was charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose and several outstanding warrants for Robbery and CDS Offenses out of Bayonne and Jersey City.

He was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility on a total of $35,000 Bail full from all combined charges.

  1. Nice…now they had the balls to be carring a weapon with the intent of stabbing someone. ..lock them up for a long time…somehow i think they will walk and do it again just as a thank you to the system

  2. Jersey city people need to stay in Jersey city, they apparently don’t know how to act and we don’t want you bringing your crime to our city ! Just because your city is out of control don’t bring that over here, lock them up throw away the key. Work on the crime rate over there before it bleeds to neighboring cities
