WEST NEW YORK – Two men were arrested Wednesday after assaulting West New York Police officers, officials said.

Christopher Zavala, 18, of North Bergen (left) and Arnold Caballero, 24, of West New York (right) were arrested on February 4, 2015 outside Sherezada’s Go Go Bar located at 229 61st St. in West New York.

At around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Officers Rivera and Alicea of West New York PD were dispatched to the bar regarding two intoxicated males attempting to regain entry into the bar. When they arrived they observed two men being aggressive, shouting profanity, and making threats, allegedly towards the security who had apparently ripped Zavala’s jacket. Zavala and Caballero were “unruly and violent,” officials said. Caballero punched an officer in the stomach and Zavala kicked an officer in the left hand, resulting in a fracture.

Christopher Zavala was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, obstruction admin law, and under age drinking. His bail was set at $5,000 with a 10 percent option. He made his first appearance Wednesday in Central Judicial Processing in Jersey City on his charges.

Arnold Caballero was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. His bail was set at $2,500 with a 10 percent option.
