JERSEY CITY – Two Jersey City women were assaulted last night while walking north on Wright Ave. One woman was stabbed, the other was punched, officials said.
At around 8:00 p.m. on February 6, 2015, a female victim saw a man dressed in all black, wearing a ski mask and walking towards her. The victim stated that the male punched her on the left side of her face and she fell to the ground. The suspect fled to the corner of Wright Ave. and Logan Ave. The victim sustained slight swelling to her left eye brow. The suspect did not say anything to the victim nor did he take any proceeds, officials said.
At around 10:30 p.m. police were dispatched to Wright Ave. on reports that a female victim was heavily bleeding from her head. When police arrived the victim told them, “she feels like she is swallowing her own blood,” officials said. The victim stated she was walking home with her daughter from a store on Broadway when she was attacked from behind and stabbed several times on the left side of her face. The actor fled south on Wright Ave. towards Logan ave. The victim was transported to the hospital where she was treated for 2 lacerations that were non-life threatening injuries.
At around 2:30 a.m. on February 7, 2015, detective Mundo and Officer Aly were patrolling the area of Logan Ave. and Emerson Ave., when they observed an individual that fit the description from the two attacks. The suspect was stopped on the corner of Wallis Ave. where police recovered a blue folded knife with a 5-inch stainless blade from his pocket.
The suspect was later identified as Syron B. Stone. and was placed under arrest. “Police think he may be emotionally disturbed,” spokesperson Carly Baldwin stated. Probable cause for the arrest and the warrant was granted by Hon. Judge Nieto.
