During Thursday night’s parent-teacher conferences at Union City High School, families in need will be able to take home a non-perishable food basket.

The food collection and distribution was organized by the student council.  It’s an event which has been held going back to the days of Emerson and Union Hill High Schools.

For the past two-and-a-half weeks, students, teachers and clubs have been donating food for Thursday night’s event.  After meeting with their son or daughter’s teachers, families may take home a food basket to help them feed their families.  Families do not need to pre-register in order to receive a basket.

According to Student Council President, Sophia Moncaleano, enough non-perishable items have been donated to fill approximately 50 baskets for those in need.
