Union City officials celebrated diversity by holding a flag raising ceremony for Pride Month in Washington Park on Friday afternoon.

A city proclamation was presented to performing artist J. Edgar Mozoub, who came to the United States with his family in 1990 and began a successful career.  In addition, the city recognized the Hudson Pride Center, which recently opened an office in Union City at 4428 Bergenline Avenue.  The Center provides numerous social services to the LGBTQ community.

On June 22nd the city will paint its first Pride crosswalk on Bergenline Avenue from 9 am to 4 pm.  Free resources and giveaways will be handed out to any volunteers who show up to paint the street in the colors of the Pride flag.

On Friday evening the city hosted a Pride Festival along 15th Street, between Bergenline and New York Avenues.
