Union City Man arrested for burglarizing Construction Sites

Augusto Agostini (36) of Union City NJ has been arrested and charged with 3 counts of Burglary, Theft, Bail jumping and Possession of CDS Marijuana, Hoboken Police says.

Uniform Officers received several reports of constructions sites being Burglarized and equipment stolen.  There was approximately $1000.00 of materials taken from one of the sites. The first incident occurred on Friday November 2nd while the second incident occurred on Saturday November 3rd, 2018. During the first incident, the defendant entered the site but was not able to take anything. The following day he entered another site and was able to take $1000.00 worth of light fixtures. Det. Rodriguez and PO Santiago arrived at the site and began to investigate the matter. After following on some leads they were able to identify the defendant as the person burglarizing the construction sites. Detectives Colon, Quinones and Losurdo began to search for the defendant. Their efforts led them to an address in Jersey City where they were able to observe the defendant inside a motor vehicle. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and the defendant was safely placed under arrest. A search found him to be in possession of CDS Marijuana. Inside the vehicle they were able to find what they believed were proceeds from one of the burglaries.

He was transported to headquarters where a warrant complaint was generated. A check found an outstanding warrant out of the City of Jersey City for similar offenses.

He was processed and later remanded to the Hudson county Rehabilitation Center.
