Union City Mayor Brian Stack: “Be Counted in the 2020 Census!”

Please participate in this very important census.

The 2020 Census count down is here! The Census determines the amount of federal funding allocated to Union City and it is my goal that all Union City residents are counted.

Many cities are considered hard to count areas and Union City is not an exception. It is crucial for residents to be counted. A correct count can translate into millions in federal aid for programs like school breakfast and lunch, WIC, immunization programs and even road construction projects. The Census can also change representation in the House of Representatives and provide accurate voting boundaries. There is a direct impact on the residents of Union City, which is why it is so important to be counted.

Residents should be aware that federal law prohibits the U.S. Census Bureau from sharing your information even with other government agencies.

According to the last census in 2010, Union City has a population of 66,455 in its 1.2 square miles; however, I believe the population is much larger, closer to 90,000. City officials will be working over the course of the year to help residents with their census questions and to ensure that all Union City residents are counted.

Thank you for your time and attention to this important matter. As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance.
