This morning, Democratic Mayor/State Senator Brian Stack echoed his sentiment from a Feb. 2011 town hall meeting where Republican Governor Chris Christie came to visit, calling him the “greatest governor all of time.”
Stack offered very high-praise for the governor today when he visited the municipality for the grand opening of the Colin Powell Elementary School.
“”Governor Christie is here for us,” Stack said enthusiastically. “I stand behind the governor. I said he was the best ever, and he’s also the best I ever worked with – and that’s coming from a Democrat. This is about true leadership. …We need to stop the false idealism that the Democrats (are always right). In Union City, he’s numero uno.”
Despite the strong words of approval, Stack refused to call his speech an endorsement for Christie in an exclusive interview with Hudson County TV after the event.
Christie runs for re-election this November, more than likely to be challenged by Democratic State Senator of the 18th District, Barbara Buono.
Just over a week ago, North Bergen Mayor/State Senator Nick Sacco, who is Stack’s top political rival, endorsed Buono in her quest for the governor’s seat.
