During a City Hall ceremony on Friday morning, Union City promoted three police officers to the rank of Sergeant.  The two men and one woman replace supervisory officers who have retired.

The newly promoted officers are Luis Veras, Natasha Suarez and Erick Navarro.  Each of the new Sergeants have been members of the Union City Police Department for between ten and twelve years.

Police Chief Anthony Fucchini and Mayor Brian Stack, the head of Public Safety, each congratulated the new Sergeants and praised the work of the Department in protecting the public.  While the number of calls for service has increased by 20%, the overall crime within the city has dropped.

The Police Department has 182 members, which includes Special Class 2 and Class 3 officers who patrol the schools.
