Family, friends and fellow officers proudly witnessed Wednesday afternoon’s, Union City Police Department promotional ceremony held at the Esther Salas Academy. A total of eleven officers received promotions.
The promotional ceremony was the last for Chief Anthony Facchini, who officially retired on Thursday. Receiving promotions to the rank of Captain were Steve Matulewicz and Richard Perez.
For the first time in the Department’s history, two female officers were promoted to the mid-level management rank of Lieutenant, as Christina Garces and Michelle Zeron took their oaths. Also promoted to Lieutenant were Angel Cartagena and Hernan Lenis.
Five officers received their first promotions to a supervisory rank, that of Sergeant; Sebastian Montes, Enrique Diaz, William Vanderhorst, Jose Taveras and Dwayne Williams.
Congratulations to each of the officers on their promotions. May they stay safe and protect the citizens of Union City.
