Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for April 21, 2020.
Union City’s confirmed cases are at 2,106 and sadly 102 residents have succumbed to the virus. Their families will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
The labs are now catching up on reporting and are reporting faster, which can be attributed to the jump in confirmed cases. More people are getting tested and treated than ever before. Testing needs to happen in order to save lives. Worldwide more than 500,000 people have fully recovered from this virus.
Everyone is required to wear a mask or cloth face covering in public. This could vary from anything from a surgical mask, cloth mask, scarf or bandana. The important thing is to keep you nose and mouth covered. We are happy to announce that Union City was able to secure tests for the nursing homes in the city. This will be very helpful in making that some of the most vulnerable of our population are tested and treated. This will help save lives. Please take time to check in with your family, friends and neighbors. Whether is be by phone, text messages, Facebook or other social media. Having someone to talk to is very important, especially during this time and talking to someone can be so helpful.
If you need assistance, please do not hesitate to call Mayor Stack’s office at 201-348-5757 or his cell at 201-376-1942. We are one Union City. We are stronger together and we will get through this together.
