UPS to Launch Major Recruitment Drive in Bayonne with Two Job Fairs this October

Bayonne, NJ – October 5, 2023 – In a significant move that underscores the growing economic potential of Hudson County, global logistics giant UPS has announced two major job fairs this month. The events, set to take place at Bayonne City Hall, come as the company prepares to open a new logistics center in the city.

Mayor Jimmy Davis, in his announcement, highlighted the dates for the job fairs: Saturday, October 14, and Saturday, October 21. Both events will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will be hosted in the Council Chambers on the ground floor of the City Hall, located at 630 Avenue C.

The new UPS logistics center, situated at the former Military Ocean Terminal, is expected to employ over 1,000 individuals. This move is seen as a significant boost to the local economy, especially given the historical significance of the location. The Military Ocean Terminal, which closed over two decades ago, once served as a bustling hub of activity. Its transformation into a state-of-the-art logistics center marks a new chapter in Bayonne’s economic story.

Mayor Davis expressed his optimism about the development, stating, “The decision by UPS to establish their advanced logistics hub here is a testament to Bayonne’s strategic importance in the Northeast. This facility will not only generate employment but will also play a crucial role in UPS’s operations across the region.”

Prospective job seekers are encouraged to register in advance through the official UPS registration link, although walk-ins will also be accommodated.

UPS’s commitment to employee welfare is well-documented. The company offers competitive compensation packages, with delivery drivers earning an average total of $170,000 annually. Part-time positions start at $21.00 per hour, and all employees benefit from comprehensive healthcare plans and pension contributions. Additionally, UPS’s ‘Earn and Learn’ program provides eligible employees with up to $25,000 for college tuition and related expenses.

The upcoming job fairs are not just about filling positions; they represent UPS’s long-standing tradition of nurturing talent. With over half of its management team comprising individuals who began in part-time or entry-level roles, UPS stands as a beacon of growth and opportunity.
