SECAUCUS, NJ — Vision Media Marketing Inc. was announced as a Winner in two categories at the 2016 Stanley F. Reed Awards held on Thursday in Charleston, S.C. The firm’s two winning submissions, “The Shady Bunch” in the Best Democratic Mayoral Campaign TV Ad category and “La Gran Vida de los Ricos y Mentirosos” (attached) in the Best Spanish Language Direct Mail category were both created on behalf of North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco’s victorious re-election campaign in May 2015.One of the industry’s premier honors, the Reed Awards embody excellence in political campaigning, campaign management, political consulting and political design. Vision Media is one of dozens of top political consulting firms to take home a Reed Award, joining several national leaders in the field.

“We are absolutely thrilled to see our work be recognized and celebrated like this,” said Vision Media Vice President Philip Swibinski. “Both of these pieces demonstrate our firm’s creative approach to campaign messaging that allows our clients to break through the clutter and reach their voters. We would like to thank Campaigns and Elections magazine, the awards committee and especially our client Mayor Nick Sacco for his many years of friendship and confidence in our firm.”

Both the mailer and the television ad reinforced the campaign’s themes of Sacco opponent Larry Wainstein’s questionable residency and enormous wealth, which placed him squarely out of touch with North Bergen voters. Each contains cultural references and humorous copy in addition to top flight art direction and strong concepts. The release of “The Shady Bunch” was covered in numerous news outlets and the ad was widely shared and viewed among New Jersey politicos, and sparked additional coverage when it was announced as a Reed Award finalist.

“For a negative ad to work it needs two things — damaging information about the opponent and a hook to make the message connect with voters,” said Vision Media President Paul Swibinski. “The ‘Shady Bunch’ concept was an effective way to grab the viewer’s attention, and we would like to thank Wainstein for surrounding himself with such a colorful gang of crooks, criminals and miscreants and providing such great material.”
