With its seasons already underway, Weehawken held its opening ceremonies and parade for the Recreation Department’s baseball, softball and T-Ball programs at Weehawken Stadium on Saturday.
Approximately 500 township youngsters are participating in the programs this spring. Teams play 12 games at three township venues; Weehawken Stadium atop the Lincoln Tunnel, Arricale Field and the waterfront softball complex.
Last weekend a special event was held to raise money for autism. High schools from across New Jersey participated in a tournament and $6,000 was raised. Over the past decade, some $50,000 has been raised for the Teamwork Unlimited Foundation – The Parents of Autistic Children.
Saturday’s ceremonies marked the start of another fun and competitive season for Weehawken’s children.
