For the second, consecutive summer, the West New York Recreation Department is sponsoring a free, softball camp at Miller Stadium.  The girls enrolled in the camp are learning all of the basic skills of the game.

Approximately 100 girls are enrolled in the camp, which runs through the end of August.  If you are interest, registration is still open.  Just contact the Recreation Office at Town Hall.

The camp, under the direction of softball coordinator Lou Nagurka, takes place Monday through Friday from 9 am until 3 pm.   The girls are learning all of the game’s basic skills…fielding, hitting, throwing and running.

The camp is open to girls from 8 to 18 years of age.  Some are new to the sport, while others have played for Memorial High School.

All of the girls Hudson TV spoke with on the camp’s fourth day said they ultimately want to improve.  Most said they have dreams of playing for the varsity team at Memorial.
