On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, the West New York Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team conducted an educational visit to Kids Place Daycare, offering the young students a firsthand look at the tools and responsibilities of emergency responders. The event, attended solely by the EMS personnel and the daycare’s teachers, transformed a typical morning into an interactive experience for the children. Gathered in a circle, their curiosity palpable, the kids explored an array of EMS equipment, including stethoscopes, bandages, and a special teddy bear designed to comfort pediatric patients. The EMS team patiently demonstrated each item’s purpose, allowing the children to handle the gear and ask questions, fostering an early appreciation for the vital work of first responders in their community.
The highlight of the visit came when the children stepped outside to the ambulance parked just beyond the daycare’s doors, where they took turns sitting in the driver’s seat and imagining themselves behind the wheel of a real emergency vehicle. The radio crackled to life with bursts of static and voices, captivating the group as they listened intently, some mimicking the sounds with wide-eyed wonder. Under the watchful eyes of their teachers, the kids role-played as medics, their small hands gripping the steering wheel or pressing imaginary buttons, while the EMS team offered insights into their daily routines. The visit left a lasting impression, blending education with excitement and giving the children of West New York a memorable glimpse into the world of emergency services at Kids Place Daycare.
