WNY Honors 4 Women As Part Of International Women’s Day

Three professionals and Memorial High School’s 2025 valedictorian were honored on Friday night as part of West New York’s International Women’s Day celebration.

The event was held at the West New York Middle School and was part of Women’s History Month.  Those honored for their accomplishments were former teacher, past Memorial High School Vice Principal and current Albio sires elementary School Principal Renee Rodriguez, who received the Legacy Award; Ahlam Nasser, a marketing director at a West New York orthodontist’s office, who was presented with the Visionary Award; and immigration attorney Ingrid Echeverria, who went through the West New York public school system and has her law practice in town.  She was presented with the Community Award.

         The Rising Star Award was given to Memorial High School’s 2025 valedictorian Jenny Mejia.

              Commissioner Marielka Diaz spearheaded the awards committee, which nominated all of the eventual award recipients.

Congratulations go out to each of the winners.  West New York’s female police officers, dispatchers and EMT’s were also recognized for their career accomplishments.
