The crack of the bat and the sound of coaching instruction filled the diamond at West New York’s Miller Stadium, as the Recreation Department’s monthlong baseball clinic for youngsters was in full swing on Wednesday.
The July clinic is run by Memorial High School baseball coach John Rivera, with assistance from several other instructors and Tigers’ players. Approximately 35 youngsters have signed up for this summer’s session.
The clinic runs Monday through Friday from 9 am until 3 pm, with a lunch break. Following lunch, the participants play games. The morning is filled with instruction; everything from hitting and throwing, to fielding and base running.
Later this summer the West New York Recreation Department will hold a softball clinic.
