Hundreds of youngsters decked out in their most creative costumes marched with their parents from West New York Town Hall to Miller Park on Friday afternoon, as the town kicked off Halloween with its largest, Fall Festival in recent memory.  All kinds of attractions and plenty of candy treats made for a fabulous time.

Following the Raggamuffin march, children arrived at Miller Park to find bouncy houses, a corn maze, numerous trunk or treat vehicles where candy was being handed out by local police officers and spooky inflatables.

The three hour event brought smiles to the children and their parents, as well as to the Board of Commissioners and Mayor Albio Sires, who told Hudson TV that Friday’s festival was the largest he can ever remember.  Sires said it was certainly larger than when he was Mayor the first time around.

Several of the Commissioners got into the Halloween spirit by dressing up in costume.  Adam Parkinson was wearing a physician’s white coat, while Marcos Arroyo had a scary     t-shirt, saying it was all that was left when he went shopping.

But the winner of the elected officials’ costume contest (this reporter’s made up game) was with out a doubt, Marielka Diaz, who arrived as Barbie.  Click on the video story if you’d like to see what I’m talking about.

The parade and fall festival attracted at least 500 people, and that may be an under-estimate.

All in all, the Halloween celebration was an enormous success.
