19 Displaced Following Wednesday Morning 4-Alarm Fire in Jersey City

19 residents of three, Olean Avenue buildings in Jersey City have been displaced following a raging inferno mid-morning on Wednesday.  Thankfully, all of the people were able to escape without injury.

Fire officials say the multi-alarm blaze began in one of the homes and quickly spread to the other two buildings.  Jersey City’s Office of Emergency Management and the Red Cross are assisting the victims with temporary housing.

The fire broke out shortly past 10 o’clock according to Jersey City spokesperson Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione.  A total of six family units were involved, with the fire originating in 197 Olean and spreading in both directions to 195 and 199 Olean.

The fire remains under investigation.  North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue provided assistance.
