2020 MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND TRAVEL ADVISORY
Lane closing planned at the Goethals Bridge
Terminal access at airports restricted to ticketed passengers, airport employees and others authorized for airport business
PATH to operate holiday schedule on Monday; World Trade Center remains open this holiday weekend
While the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey expects record low volumes across its facilities this Memorial Day weekend due to executive orders in both states and air travel restrictions, many ongoing repairs and construction projects at its crossings have been rescheduled to accommodate motorists traveling between New York and New Jersey from Friday, May 22, to Tuesday morning, May 26.
A separate travel advisory for lane closures planned for Tuesday night, May 26, through Thursday, May 28, will be issued next week.
Airports & AirTrain:
· As a reminder, terminal access at John F. Kennedy, Newark Liberty and LaGuardia airports is restricted to ticketed passengers, airport employees, and those who otherwise demonstrate a need to enter the facility for airport business. Anyone entering a terminal may be asked to provide evidence of a reason for entry, such as a ticket, boarding pass, flight reservation or comparable item for a flight departing from that particular airport; an airport identification card (airport employee ID); or documentation that a person is a vendor, contractor or otherwise doing authorized business within the terminal.
· Passengers are reminded that as a safety precaution for everyone, a face covering over the face and mouth must be worn when inside a Port Authority facility, including the airports and AirTrain.
· TSA has implemented changes to the security screening process that reduce the potential for cross-contamination at the security checkpoint in an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. More information available here.
· From 11 p.m. Friday, May 22, to 5 a.m. Saturday, May 23, one westbound lane will be closed for inspection and maintenance.
PATH’s World Trade Center station will be open this holiday weekend, and PATH service will operate between WTC and Exchange Place.
As a reminder, the 9th Street and 23rd Street stations are closed overnights from midnight to 5 a.m. through the duration of the emergency orders. Nearby PATH stations at Christopher Street, 13th Street and 33rd Street remain open 24 hours a day unless otherwise noted.
PATH service will operate on a holiday schedule on Memorial Day, May 25. For additional information on PATH service and train schedules, visit www.panynj.gov/StayOnTrack or download the PATH mobile app, RidePath.
