3 Men Sentenced To State Prison For 2019 Shooting Death of Jersey City Man

Photo Credits: rlsmedia,com                                                                                                                                                                                                                     The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has announced that two men from Jersey City and one from East Orange have been sentenced to New Jersey State Prison for the 2019 shooting death of a 21-year old, Jersey City man.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez says the Honorable John A. Young, Jr., J.S.C. sentenced the three men for their involvement in the shooting death of Markell Albright on July 23, 2019.  The court rulings came today, Friday, February 4.

                                                                          Photo Credit: Facebook                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Tyshawn Kitchens, 21, of Jersey City, pleaded guilty to Aggravated Manslaughter.  He was sentenced to 14 years in New Jersey State Prison and is subject to the No Early Release Act.  Rashad Terry, 33, of Jersey City, pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Murder.  He was sentenced to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison and is subject to the No Early Release Act.  Corey Walker, 24, of East Orange, pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault.  He was sentenced to five years in New Jersey State Prison and is subject to the No Early Release Act.

A fourth defendant, Sidney McCord, 28, of Jersey City, pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault on December 3, 2021. He is scheduled to be sentenced before Judge Young on Friday, February 11, 2022.

According to Suarez, on July 23, 2019, at approximately 8:20 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of a male shot in the area of 125 and 127 Wilkinson Avenue in Jersey City.  Responding officers found an unresponsive male, later identified as Albright, with multiple gunshot wounds lying on the ground. Albright was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 8:50 p.m.
