A 4.8 magnitude earthquake shook Northern New Jersey, New York City and Connecticut at 10:23 this morning.  The quake was centered approximately 5 miles to the east of Lebanon, New Jersey according to the United States Geological Survey.

There was no reported damaged as of 11 o’clock and no services have been disrupted in either New Jersey or New York.

Police departments received calls of floors and cabinets shaking.

As a comparison, the earthquake which struck Taiwan the other day registered more than 7 on the Richter scale, with significant damage and major loss of life.
