Sunday’s 16th annual, Weehawken Band Festival featured five high schools, including Union City, Memorial and Weehawken from Hudson County.
The event was an end of the year showcase for the schools’ marching bands after a season competition and football game performances.

Weehawken High School Marching Band Director Anthony Nunez says the festival allows friends and relatives to see the school bands performance locally, since most of their competitions are held a good distance from Hudson County. In addition, his relationships with various band directors at other high schools makes it relatively easy for him to get schools to participate in the festival.

Lyndhurst and Garfield High Schools’ marching bands also participated in Sunday’s event, which was held in a steady drizzle which became a consistent rainfall when Weehawken performed.
Weehawken High School’s marching band has 60 members, double the number of past years.
