Photo Credit: WABC 7 Eyewitness News One firefighter and five residents have been injured, two critically, in a multiple home fire on Garfield Avenue, off of Interstate 78, in Jersey City this morning. Reports say the fire broke out around 4:30 this morning and the cause remains under investigation.
According to News 12 New Jersey, a firefighter rescued a family dog and a resident saved his cat by performing CPR. The blaze reportedly broke out at 752 Garfield Avenue before spreading to neighboring homes.
News 12 is reporting that two people have been hospitalized in critical condition. The injured firefighter suffered smoke inhalation. The Red Cross is on the scene.
