Last week, the West New York Police Department welcomed seven new officers onto the force during a ceremony held in Town Hall.

According to Police Director Alejandro de Rojas, two of the officers, Ahmed S. Moustafa and Francesco A. Venezia have already graduated from the police academy and will be on the street immediately.

The other five officers are heading to the Passaic County Police Academy for months of training.  Those new recruits are Christian J. Arroyo, George D. Coronel, Fernando D. Funez, Junior A. Bermejo and Jacob L. Acevedo.

The officers are not replacing retirees.  They are adding to the total compliment of officers in the department.

Mayor Albio Sires and the Board of Commissioners wish the new officers well as they begin their careers protecting the residents and businesses of West New York.
