It is a project that is expected to take nine months to complete. The Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority is replacing the water and sewer mains on Pacific Avenue from Ash Street to Bramhall Avenue to prevent future flooding.
MUA officials say that traffic will be allowed intermittently, but motorists should plan for alternate routes and follow all detour signage.
The first phase of the project will be from Ash Street to Johnston Avenue. Moving forward, the second phase will replace mains from Johnston Avenue to Communipaw Avenue and the third phase will involve Communipaw Avenue to Bramhall Avenue.
Police advise drivers to proceed with caution.
