Weehawken COVID-19 Update – Tuesday Morning, March 31

The township of Weehawken provided the following coronavirus update on Monday night, March 30th at 7 o’clock:

CORONAVIRUS CASES

There have been 40 positive cases of COVID-19 in the township.  30 are currently active.  8 residents have recovered and are no longer showing symptoms.  Sadly, 2 residents have died.

JOINT TESTING CENTER POSSIBLE

The five towns in North Hudson (Weehawken, Union City, West New York, North Bergen and Guttenberg) will be attempting to set up a joint testing center within the next week.  Medical volunteers are needed for this planned, drive-thru coronavirus testing site.  If this proposed testing location happens, all medical professionals will be given full, protective gear.  Volunteers will be asked to perform oral or nasal swabs on patients.

The following medical professionals will be permitted to volunteer at the site:  Active or retired dentists, emergency medical technicians, laboratory technicians, medical technicians, nurses, paramedics, perfusionists, physician assistants, physicians and respiratory care practitioners.
