It was a relatively quiet weekend for the Bayonne Police Department, except for one incident early on Sunday morning.  According to Captain Eric Amato, officers arrested a man from Pennsylvania for public intoxication and disorderly conduct following a report of a fight around 1 a.m. in the area of Avenue A and 1st Street.

Accoridng to Captain Amato, 21-year old Liam T. Johnson of Doe Drive in Long Pond, Pennsylvania was taken into custody after police officers arrived at the scene to find Johnson being restrained by friends.  An altercation, the original call received by police, had apparently ended before police arrived.

Amato says Johnson, who was in an apparent state of intoxication when officers arrived, began shouting obscenities as he continued his aggressive and tumultuous behavior and insisted that he be allowed to drive his motorcycle. After refusing the officers’ numerous commands to cease his behavior and leave with friends, Johnson was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct.
