THIS STORY CONTAINS A NEW VIDEO Hudson TV reporter, Jolene Ballard, was at The Graycliff catering hall in Moonachie on Thursday night for the Brian P. Stack Civic Association’s fundraiser to cover the event and find out where the proceeds go. And the answers were interesting.
According to Justin Mercado, President of the Brian P. Stack Civic Association, much of the proceeds actually go back to pay for debts for the astonishing $450,000 spent in giving turkeys to the needy during Thanksgiving 2021. He also touched on how the pandemic has increased demand for the Civic Association to provide assistance with rent, electric bills and much more due to loss of jobs during COVID.
Union City Commissioners Celin Valdivia and Maryury Martinetti went on to share the history of the Brian P. Stack Civic Association, stating that Mayor Stack has been involved in community service since he was 14. Speaking highly of the Mayor and his endeavors, they claimed that people pay the high priced ticket because of the faith and trust the community has in Stack, knowing that 100 percent of proceeds go directly to the community of Union City to help families in need, including toy giveaways during the holidays.
Lastly, Hudson TV spoke directly with Mayor Stack himself, who was hard to track down as he was visibly still working hard during the gala, managing cell phone calls and meetings. We asked the Mayor why he is so committed to go above and beyond in his role to help those in need. He explained that he enjoys the civic perspective of his position much more than the political side stating, “When you can help people move forward in life, there’s no better feeling than that”.
Such a wonderful night and all for an amazing cause!
