On Friday afternoon, the Township of North Bergen celebrated Dominican independence. The weather outside may not have been ideal for a flag raising, but that didn’t stop the celebration.
Mayor Nicholas Sacco and the Board of Commissioners moved the ceremony indoors to the Commission chambers, where gathered guests paid tribute to the 179th anniversary of the Dominican Republic’s independence.
Among the guests were 32nd District Assemblyman Pedro Mejia, North Bergen Business Administrator Janet Castro and North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue Department co-Executive Director Mike DeOrio.
