Bike Hudson County Petitioning Mayors For Blvd. East Bike Lanes

Bicycle enthusiasts are working with Hudson County officials to use federal funds to create a dedicated, two-way bike lane along Boulevard East.  The 125-year old street runs north-south atop the Palisades overlooking Manhattan.  Bike Hudson County wants the “complete street” project from the Lincoln Tunnel in Weehawken to Braddock Park in North Bergen.
The project has stalled, however, as mayors in Weehawken, West New York, Guttenberg and North Bergen have concerns that the bike lanes will remove too many parking spaces.
That’s why Bike Hudson County has started a petition drive to gain community support in hopes of convincing the mayors that the project is important and worthwhile.  Jim Vance, a Hoboken resident who is a member of Bike Hudson County, spoke with Hudson TV reporter Jeff Henig about project, the reasons behind its delay, and the petition drive.
