Asking, “Do they think we are really that stupid,?” Bayonne Council-at-Large Candidate, and Ashe Nadrowski running mate, Jodi Casais, is blasting a recent campaign-style mailer received by Bayonne residents sent from Suez and Mayor Jimmy Davis.

The Ashe Nadrowski press release states, In an attempt to support Jimmy Davis and blunt any negative reactions to the skyrocketing water bills Suez mailed a four-panel political campaign-style mail piece to residents of Bayonne.

In the mailer Suez/Davis take credit for reducing taxes and saving the city from financial ruin. The mailer was paid for by international water company Suez. “Now we know why Mayor Davis says nothing regarding our high water bills and refuses to stand up for Bayonne residents against Suez. Once again, he has chosen to side with big business against Bayonne residents and our local small businesses,” stated Council-at-Large Candidate Jodi Casais, running mate of Mayoral Candidate Sharon Ashe Nadrowski.

The Davis/Suez’s mailer talks about financial stability and high environmental standards. It says nothing about water rates. “Davis and Suez must think we are stupid. We are drowning in water bills and flooding has never been worse. The main water line that supplies Bayonne’s clean water is scheduled to fail in a couple of years. It literally leaks thousands of gallons of our drinking water into the Hackensack River each day,” added Casais.

The City adopted an Ordinance to bond for the repair of the Hackensack water line over five years ago, yet Mayor Davis and his staff have not moved the project forward. The City also is facing a $321 million dollar bill to fix its CSO problem.

“Instead of spending thousands of dollars of our money on a political mailer in the middle of an election to help your boy Jimmy, how about you give the Bayonne ratepayer a break,” said Casais. “Bayonne residents understand what is happening here. Suez is scared they will lose their puppet Mayor, so they have decided to engage in an election instead of running a water company. Good luck. The people of Bayonne want change, and it is coming on May 10.”

Suez is the operator of various Hudson County municipal water systems including Jersey City and Hoboken. “I am really looking forward to seeing the denial from Phil Swibinski, Mayor Fulop’s spokesperson who used to work for Mayor Smith and now speaks for Mayor Davis. What these politicians do not understand is that the voters are fed up with the backroom deals and the same old excuses,” concluded Casais. “We, the people, want change.
