Bayonne Man With Drug Lab & Weapons Stash in House Spits on Police Officer While Brandishing Gun At Woman

On Thursday, September 1, Bayonne Police Captain Eric Amato reports that 41-year old, Eliezer Mieses of Avenue A in Bayonne, was arrested.  Mieses was taken into custody at 11:06 am from the area of West 26th Street.  Amato says officers responded to the area on a report of a male in possession of a handgun, while having a dispute with a female.

When officers arrived, they were advised by witnesses that the female had retreated into an area residence and the male actor had fled on Avenue A.  As officers began to search the area, they located Mieses near 26th Street and Avenue A.  As officers approached him, Amato says he immediately became irate and uncooperative as officers conducted their investigation. 

The ensuing investigation revealed that as the female victim was walking to her residence, Mieses began arguing with her while following her.  As the victim attempted to enter her residence, Mieses followed her and brandished a firearm, waving it indiscriminately at her, putting her in fear for her safety.  The victim then entered her residence without further incident. 

Amato says Mieses was then placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing.  While at headquarters, Mieses spat on an officer and was additionally charged with assault. 

As the investigation at the scene of the assault continued, officers began a thorough search for the handgun.  The investigation led to the discovery of an apparent narcotics laboratory in Mieses’ residence where psilocybin mushrooms were being cultivated. 

Members of the Bayonne Fire Department and NJ State Police HAZMAT Response Unit responded and cleared the residence of any health risks.  As the investigation continued, prohibited weapons, narcotic paraphernalia, several rounds of ammunition, a rubber ball shotgun, multiple AK-47 rifle components, an airsoft firearm, an AK-47 .762 cal. rifle, and a disassembled AR-15 were also recovered from Mieses’ residence.

During the arrest process, it was learned that Mieses was classified as a certain person not to possess weapons and was, therefore, additionally charged. He was also determined to be affiliated with a gang and was charged with gang criminality.

• Aggravated Assault (with a weapon)
• Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose
• Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
• Certain Persons not to Possess a Weapon
• Unlawful Possession of Certain Weapons
• Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose
• Unlawful Possession of a Rifle/Shotgun
• Possession of CDS with the Intent to Distribute
• Possession of CDS
• Possession of CDS with the Intent to Distribute within 1000 feet of a School
• Maintaining a CDS Production Facility
• Possession of CDS Paraphernalia with the Intent to Distribute 
• Gang Criminality
